What is Phonymarket?
Phonymarket is a parody of prediction market websites where you trade shares on answers to questions people make up. Prices move as people trade or as more information about the question becomes known. Every market uses fictional credits called "bits," which have no cash value.
Phonymarket grew out of Ponymarket, a prediction market built in twelve hours for a single afternoon of fandom speculation. The joke turned out to be portable. Real prediction markets ask whether a government will fall; this one asks whether your landlord will fix the sink. The machinery underneath is identical, which is either reassuring or the whole point.
Anyone signed in can open a market about anything, and the person who opened it decides how it ends. That is not an oversight.-15
